We are excited to promote new directing talent here at Bremerton Community Theatre. With the guidance of our experienced corps of directors, those directing for the first time – or directing at BCT for the first time – will present a collection of one-act plays.
Blind Date by Horton Foote
Penny Lukkasson, Director
This comedy is set in the living room of Robert and Dolores Henry's home. Dolores has, at last, been able to arrange a date for her visiting niece, Sarah Nancy, and she wants Robert out of the way. But the rebellious Sarah Nancy refuses to play the flirtation game making it abundantly (and hilariously) clear.
Going to the Chapel by Donald Steele
Karen Hauser, Director
Minutes before Julie is about to take her fifth walk down the aisle, she and her always-at-her-side Matron of Honor Jan examine love and life and their friendship – each learning some things they didn't know about each other, or themselves.
The Proposal by Anton Chekhov
Jon O’Guin, Director
This little farce is very popular and one of the funniest ever written. The story tells of the efforts of a nervous and excitable man who starts to propose to an attractive young woman, but who gets into a tremendous quarrel over a boundary line.
The Most
Massive Woman Wins by Madeline George
Rikki Jo Hickey, Director
NOTICE: Mature language and themes.
Challenging, brutal and hilarious, four women of various shapes and sizes sitting in the waiting room of a liposuction clinic explore their perceptions of body image. The women reveal their experiences dealing with their weight issues through monologues, short scenes, and even schoolyard rhymes. From painful childhood memories to frustrations with the opposite sex, these experiences both haunt and empower these women as they imagine their way to a new vision of themselves as beautiful and whole.
The Complete History of Theatre (abridged) by Matt Thompson
Seamus Horn, Director
It’s opening night, and master playwright William Shakespeare, theatrical diva Sarah Bernhardt and the indelible intellectual Constantine Stanislavsky lead you on a wild and wacky journey through the history of theatre from Aristophanes to Emile Zola. This crazy cast of characters will transport you back in time as we relive the various elements of theatre from all parts of the globe.
